Your small frame lies on the plush, golden fabric
and like a halo of snow, your hair frames your face.
Our own eyes leak, their droplets landing on your cheeks,
reminding us that we too will have lives and no regrets

And like a halo of snow, you hair frames your face,
we see the years that passed and the love in your eyes
reminding us that we too will have lives and no regrets;
watching in sorrow as our own children grow up.

All those years passed, and I remember the love in your eyes,
it never caused my thumping gizzard any doubt.
Reminders that we too, will have lives and no regrets,
watching our own spawns, still loving them when they do wrong.

Never causing my thumping gizzard any doubt,
I watch my own grow up so quickly, unavoidable by fate.
And, those spawns of mine that don’t see how I can love their wrongs,
cause me to step back and remember, I was once a spawn too.

Watching them grow up so quickly, unavoidable by fate,
I see what you had seen all along through new eyes.
When I step back and remember, I was once a spawn too,
the fact that your love was soft and silk like and I adored you
